Our Mission...
“We envision Brucetown United Methodist Church as a place where all are welcomed, spiritually formed, led to a personal relationship with Christ and therefore become a community that extends care and love to all the world.”
From the Lay Leader of Brucetown United Methodist Church;
Our mission statement shows a glimpse of the never-ending cycle that is the work of the church; A cycle that consists of: 1) Welcoming people. 2) Spiritually forming people. 3) Leading people to a personal relationship with Christ. 4) Sending people out into the world to extend love and care and who will, prayerfully, help to repeat and continue this cycle forever, to the end of time. Where does this little country church stand in this bold mission?
1) Welcoming people: We provide many opportunities for welcoming people into the congregation. People often comment on the warm fellowship extended by this church during events like fund-raiser dinners, senior luncheons, community gatherings, and family fun-festivals. However, we must always do more! We must always be more intentional in our mission to welcome people into His church. We desire new faces! Stop in and visit us!
2) Spiritually forming people: Brucetown Church’s Sunday school classes, worship services, Bible studies and women’s group programs provide the foundation and opportunity for the spiritual formation of everyone in our midst. However, we must continue to broaden our knowledge and love of Jesus Christ. As we are being spiritually formed, along the way, we must create a stronger desire for people to become Sunday school teachers, Bible study leaders, and church leaders. Our leadership needs strengthened and new ideas. Although many in our midst are happy and eager to serve and lead, we desire new faces and new ideas to help spread God’s word. Come and join us!
3) Leading people to a personal relationship with Christ: As our spiritual formation takes place, so too does our relationship with Christ. This church is extremely blessed with having our present minister. Our minister has a way of opening the scriptures to show the personal side of Christ and our personal connection to Him. We are encouraged to share a personal testimony at the end of each church service. With prayer and God’s help we are continuing to grow in our personal witness to others. Come and hear about Christ!
4) Sending people out into the world to extend love and care: We are ‘sending out’ to the world through our participation in world and community outreach and missions, supporting Weekday Religious Education, local food banks and we have helped in supporting several families in paying medical bills. Sometimes this small church is tested when it comes to doing the work of the church, but we do come through and we will continue to. Come and visit us.
Although the congregation of Brucetown United Methodist Church is small, through God’s guidance and continued blessing, we are and will continue to be God’s church. What a joyous union! What an awesome responsibility! Our church family continues to grow closer to each other by sharing the blessings we have received (getting) and through being a blessing to others (giving). In drawing closer together, we are also drawing closer to God. With God’s help, Brucetown church will continue be God’s church through welcoming, forming, leading, and sending people in His name in the years to come. Please come and join us!

Lay Leader 2005
